Aquila steering wheel

Post by rogerfishburn »

Hi Guys, does anyone have a steering wheel for a Moonfleet Aquila for sale or know which car wheel is the same or similar. I have seen this
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-BLAC ... 1438.l2649 but not sure if its similar enough and I would still need the centre or make something.
Any advice would be gratefully welcomed, still looking for the engine cover as well rather than making my own
Cheers Roger

Hi Roger, the Aquila steering wheels originated from the Zephyr mk 2 which is unusual as the engines they used came from the Mk3 ( 213e) please note the one you require is “ without “ the horn ring ( as seen in picture) as the one with has a recessed spoke for it to fit into .

This is what you need for the centre I presume? Unfortunately, these are like hens teeth , when I restored the boat I had a new one made using this one as a pattern, sadly the engineer( then in his 80s) has died, however his son has taken over the business and “may”be able to make one in between his work contracts :hmmm:P.m.me if you need any further info
