I have one of these 'no feedback' steering systems, but the cable (Morse p/n 208767) has seized in situ - it was working when I bought it 2nd hand. 6 months of acetone and atf drip-fed by funnel has failed to shift it. It's not a service item, but has anyone here drilled the factory rivets and removed the internal cable? Floater??
Is needed for my new Mini Clubman... (blame Ivy Lake and run around in Mike's).

Re: Teleflex Steering Rack
Sorry, can't help on this one. I have a Teleflex NFB setup on my Waverider but bought it new and have (so far) had no problems or needed to pull it apart. I can't even help by nipping out and looking at it as the boat is currently in storage 10 miles away.
Is yourClubman one of the ones we were chatting about on the internet finds?

Re: Teleflex Steering Rack
In the absence of any how-to on the net, I decided to see if I could take it apart - it is seized after all..It's a sealed no- maintenance unit, I guess designed to prevent litigation...which is a pity, because with the right lubricant it would probably last.
In dismatling it, there was no way the original mix could have penetrated the inner cable (I was doing it from the engine end and thats sealed right up to the ram).
Anyway..here's the how-to from me - only works with p/n 208767 - later models 'SSC****', appear to be completely tamper proof. Am hoping the drip feed from a height will get through any rust in the shaft..I'll own up though, I do have a proper 'SSC' model, but that requires a different helm / boss unit. Very clever marketing..

Re: Teleflex Steering Rack
Mine seized when I stupidly forgot to grease the cable where it goes thru that tube. The inner spiral was stretched as I doubled down on stupid by forcing the wheel, wrecking it. After replacing it with a new one, I was surprised to see that the old one has ALWAYS been stretched a few inches (as shown by the motor positioning).
The spiral didn't look damaged, but it sure was.
