Worlds First 8 cylinder racing outboard - The Konig 8
When it comes to outboard racing sometimes bigger makes an appearance in a real big way. The later 1960s and early seventies saw such development. Where all else went well these mega engines soft spots were their gearcases and this one, the Konig 8 was no different. It ws in effect 2 four cylinder Konig engines mated together to make on 8 cylinder version. It is unknown if these engines were seen in Europe as such but they sure did appear in the USA and sure made an impression that would last and even now in a collectors museum. Some noteables in the USA associated with these monsters were racers like Marshall Grant and others. Enjoy the pictures.

The King 8 cylinder exposed! This shot is up close and personal. It shows the intergrated cylinders, integrated crankcases, dualed cranshafts and 4 carbs mounted over crankshaft driven via cogged belt disk rotary valves. Enjoy the picture.
