Many race sites where also the previewers of many one off engines, some of which had remarkable engineering and were also very fast too boot. The Williams engine was one of these. Enjoy the picture.

Twister: Its just a reversed 3 cylinder in line loop type engine. They faced the engine reversed to bring over cylinder weight forward of the transom to reduce overhanging cantilever weight created by the addition of overhanging pipes. Otherwise the carbs are snowmobile types with Merc 3 cylinder belt drive ignition and other parts from other engines put into a custom loop type 3 cylinder engine block and crankcase all custom made to fit. There are stranger engines made from 1, 2, 3 and even 4 cylinder snowmobile engines set vertical. I will feature some of those hybrids in future postings.
