Running in that 1150

Post by haventaclue »

As I lay in bed on Saturday night/Sunday morning, fretting :hilarious: over why that big beauty wouldn't idle right. The penny dropped. She's just been rebuilt and been run in,so I assume you are using 25:1 mix ? Those big Mercs don't like to idle at the best of times but an extra dose of TCW3,she's definitely not going to like it. These engines run best :wot: ,as you showed us on the run up to Lough Key  :drink:
no matter how bad it is,it can always get worse,I'm an optimist

You may be right, I set the idle up on 25:1 but it was on 50:1 in Ireland so it may be better now if I try again. I will have a fiddle with it on Loch Lomond in a couple of weeks time. She seemed to run OK otherwise but needs a little fine tuning methinks, I couldn't be bothered in Ireland, I was too busy enjoying myself :D & the 2nd w/e was a bit lumpy to be hanging over the back with a spanner & screwdriver!

Great to meet you & your lovely missus.
Mercs are like women, no 2 are exactly alike. That's what testing is about. In general it is safer to test motors and props than women!
