Firstly should have said 33C (morse cable) not 5C

to use these cables you will need two of these of these for the motor end

I guess you could drill and tap your nylon bock and screw the cable end straight into it however to reduce the risk of it tearing out you may want to drill and tap the nylon with a larger thread and make a threaded sleeve from a suitable bolt tapped to fit the cable end this will spread the load better.

No, he's using the OMC kit we got at Beaulieu, not 33c teleflex, so c4 cables (same as OMC Type O), not c5 (c5 is Mercury). C14 is the other OMC option, but needs the appropriate OMC controller (square 2 lever gray one), as the remote ends are the same as the c5 mercury ends. Confused yet?

I was suggesting the 33C as an alternative as he said type O are hard to find. The 33C will require the additional parts as pictured.

My default setting is confused, I mistakenly stated 5C which to me is familiar as a lathe collet pattern standard

Ok, see what you mean. Am not a fan of 33c, they look so stiff and come in odd colours, but may be a better option as they're plentiful, common for most Japanese motors and Chrylser - Petrolhead uses them and is a fan. I found an OMC 33c kit at Beaulieu too, not sure where I put it though - garage has become a dumping ground recently...

Hmm definitely confused I think I'll probably stick with the type O because as you said we got the fittings at Beaulieu and so already have everything else I need.
I've found these which I'm pretty sure are right and despite being in the states they are reasonably priced both for the cable and the postage: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120671700645? ... 1423.l2649 could be a good solution. I found them brand new on iboats.com but when I saw the delivery charge of £80 I gave up.

Hang about until Alacrity gets back from Ireland though - am sure there are some in the CMBA spares. The inner cable slides into the central hole and the end of it is passed through a hole of it's diameter then crimped up top and bottem by the 2 allen screws. Akaroa123 used to sell the repair kit for your remotes - in the package was a lever (without knobs), 2 racks, new stickers, cable holders, allen screws, etc. worthwhile asking if they have any left.

Success! Akaroa123 had a kit left I had searched his shop before but must have missed it I got both racks, all the screws, even the ones to mount the throttle unit and some cable clips for £12, bargain!
I'm going to do some ringing around this weekend for cables and then I'll be there. I did a bit of teak laminating last night which is hopefully going to form a nice sweeping mount for the throttle to go onto, I'll post some pics of that when it's in place (if it fits alright that is).

Great news! Also, ask shirleyxxx123 if she has any cables - you will have to describe what it is you need - is her late father's business and am not sure if it's all catalogued, but I have bought cables from her before - not sure if they were type O or C4...may be worthwhile.

Yeah I messaged her the other day, she has one 11ft cable but was uncertain if it was a type O because like you say she's just selling off her fathers old stock. I need a 10 and an 11ft cable though so it's probably worth a punt!
