Project Mercurys

Post by Rapier »

Spent a blustery day cleaning up and fitting a Mk55 wrap I got on ebay a few months back. The sound-deadening went into the bin, as usual was moth eaten. Glue removed from the stainless with nitromors, new catches and bingo. They make stacks of noise on song, which I enjoy; fine to muffle if you wanted to run 20 miles up a populated lake. Here's a sternshot vid of the 400 big brother...

The Mk55 wrap fits all the slimline 4 pots up to 1965 (I think) certainly know they fit to '62...Liked it so much on the 400 that had to get one for another 300 I renovated last year. Also got the Mk28A fixed with a new coil, longer term plan is to paint the leg Sand Tan and leave the original Buckskin Beige ( :hilarious: ) lid as original. I have another 2 scabby 200 and 250 lids, one will be press-ganged into a proper bath, new decals and very nice Mk28 faceplate I spotted on ebay soon after I got a 200 autotranny.
