I have one - in the queue in the shed. Very common in Asia, the standard G30/50 mated to an outdrive, via a Vee belt with a friction lever.
Strangely there are also quite a number in France! I was contacted by a serious 'old Honda' collector who specialised in the less common aspects of Honda in the UK. I think he ended up buying one from an advert on leboncoin.

Nicely engineered (apart from the Vee drive element) but it is pretty heavy. Needs a boat with quite a bit of spare bouyancy aft. I may end up replacing the original engine with a later GX as getting hold of original G series parts is not easy - we'll see.

hello Pete54
i believe your honda gb40 is the last model which finished in around 1970 with smaller tank and a different exhaust to the one pictured ?
jf so im the crazy rare honda collector you spoke to a few years back ?
i seem to remember if im correct yours was missing the air filter cover ?
if im correct please sell it to me as it is the last variant made and the one im after to complete my collection !
parts are quite hard to find for the g30/40 but ive amass quite a few spares so i can keep mine as usable engines
regards
alan

I'll post a couple of pictures in a day or so ( just back from France so a few things to sort out).

If it is the model you want when you see the photos - post some technical data here and you can have the engine for the cost of the carriage. Only downside is that I'm close to Aberdeen so that can be expensive!
