[Rapier]

The 17 pitch prop on the 71 Merc 400 was de-hubbed while trying to remove from it's propshaft. It's largely useless for my existing boats, but fits both the longshaft 1970 500 I have and the 400 and is in nice condition otherwise and worthwhile keeping. Does anyone know if there is anyone out there that can re-hub it and if so, at what sort of price level?

They can be re bushed, but most repairs won't want to do it unless it is a stainless or bronze one, as aluminium props can split when the bush is being pressed in, we used to do them on a 20 ton press, if it splits, the repairer has wrecked a bush that the customer doesn't want to pay for, the cost is not a lot less than a new one,on an aluminium prop,but more cost effective on stainless, the latest generation of props from Michigan Wheel have drop in hubs any way, its a much better system, an OMC prop will fit a Merc or Yamaha just by changing a £25 hub, the prop is the key to a well set up boat, the differance in fuel consumption and speed can be unbelievable, get the right one for the job, in stainless if possible, you won't regret it.
