Marinised E93A engine

Post by Mr Fred »

I have an E93A engine (the 8hp version, I am fairly sure) that is marinised and that has a small FNR gearbox attached that looks like a car version with 2nd and 3rd gears disabled.

The unit seams to turnover well and I think that it should run, from what I have seen so far. I see that parts are fairly readily available. A rebuild may be necessary.

From the engine number, I think that the block is early 1936 and guess that the rest of the kit on it is about the same.

Can anyone suggest what boats in the 1930's might have been fitted with this engine? Who might have done the marinisation?

I understand that Albatross's had them fitted and that the old Oulton Broad type racing machines might have had them from which the Aquaplane brand was developed but would like to know more.

I am thinking about getting a boat that might suit this engine and am wondering what the choice might be.

Thanks for any info.
