Trailer winch?

Post by Rapier »

I inherited this winch in a pile of stuff inside the Fletcher Arrow V130. It's made by Tollbridge and loosely hinged at the winch end. Can anyone tell me how it's mounted on a trailer? Maybe it was designed to fit on the old style tubular trailers, with the rubber roller tight up against the bow?

Looks to me like it is meant to fir over the ball hitch of a vehicle with the flat bat going against the bumper?
Mercs are like women, no 2 are exactly alike. That's what testing is about. In general it is safer to test motors and props than women!

I can see where Alacrity is coming from, given the size of the hole and the metal plate, but surely the trailer would have to be unhitched for that to work and if it wasn't braked or chocked in some way, what would stop it from riding up underneath the towing vehicle?

Just a thought.

Its a winch for winching the trailer to the car, not for winching the boat on the trailer. the flat bit hinges down and goes on the ground , and the hole goes over the tow ball...simples.. :perfect:

Aye,me.Everywhere I launch I have to use a ratchet strap to pull the boat and trailer up the slip,to recover :(. But it works well :) I have had a look at the pics,I think I can knock something similar up in the garage
no matter how bad it is,it can always get worse,I'm an optimist
