Century Riviera 5m

Post by solitaire »

Hello all................House move acomplished and thinking of boats again.
Does anyone have expierience or knowledge of older Century grp boats?
I worked for an American boat builder back in the day, (70's) the woven lay-up can be a bit heavy, spray on glass perhaps is not as good as hand applied
and some of the "lumber" used can be of dubious quality.
BUT, - I,m quite taken with the looks of the Century Riviera 5m, (the 6m being just a tad to long and heavy to manage) - a good looking retro runabout with a moderate vee hull. I have only seen one for sale (in Europe), and it seemed overpriced as it was fitted with the lower power 120hp (ie 2.5l 4cylinder Mercruiser), Hard to find, but a few in the US with V6 or even V8's. - Any in the club or seen in the UK?

An alternative, - but not so retro, a good old VP powered Scandinavian classic Coronet/Draco 1700 (Coronet made all of the 1700's for Draco), better quality grp/wood and engineering...............possibly not so cool as a Riviera.
