What exactly is a Shetland?

Post by Tarquin »

I know the traditional Shetland 2 Berth Cruiser from the 70's and know they made a number of different boats but on Ebay I see plenty that simply don't look as if they are from the same brand, despite them being advertised as such.

Has Shetland become a generic term like Hoover?

Shetland made many models, mostly cruisers, the most popular and common being the 535. Is also common to see non-Shetlands being described as such on the web / ebay, when owners don't know what they've got. Same with Fletcher too.
