York event 2013

Post by eastcoast »

Hi, not sure if 2013 calendar is finalised but how about a weekend meet at York?
The club has visited before, however this was only a day meet, long way for some of the members.
York Marine have campsite, slipway, facilities etc, shops and pub/restaurants are 5 mins walk away in Bishopthorpe.
If enough members attend they will offer slipway use free. Could be a fantastic weekend.
Mr Alcorn can it be done?

Alacrity's at Annecy at the mo', may be worthwhile emailing him or getting in touch when he's back next week. Sounds like a potentially great event though!

Thanks, I will email Geoff again when he's back from across the channel. It would be nice to add this northern event, good Stretch of water for 25 miles+, number of happy places to visit? (public houses), Lost count!

I spent many happy hours in that area with my kids and caravan. I had friends at Copmanthorpe on the other river bank with farm and caravan site and always wanted to boat in that stretch, but never had the where with all, despite the offer of a free mooring from my friend who was not interested in using his then. Spent lots of time wandering around the Bish boatyard. There was also another boat yard close to Copmanthorpe, which is now closed and forms a housing estate. They had a bar and restaurant - cunningly named 'The Boat House' we also frequented that for meals and window shopping in the yard as my friends knew the owners well. Depening upon the date, I might have to set myself a target for my newly aquired project - see General 'New member Beal Park' for ref and aim to be there to take advice and help on a first launch!!?..........

Even if the boat insn't ready I would be going, if it was on to meet members.

Now I will really have to try and source a suitable outboard sharpish over the winter...........

I have emailed Geoff, events coordinator, but had no reply?
whats need is a few members from 'up north' to give it the thumbs up and maybe that will encourage the southern members to give it a go.

Try him again - he's at the Falmouth Rally, but I know he's had some issues with internet at home since he got back from Aix....

I will add you to the list my friend. I didn't know Geoff A was doing Falmouth or not, fancied that myself.
