Entry
Entry for this event is now open and can be done via this link. Please note that numbers are limited to 20 boats. For more details please contact this event organiser - Nick Dunn.
Itinerary
Arrival from first thing Friday, those staying are welcome to remain until any time Monday.
Full details of the rally itinerary will be confirmed closer to the event date. Prior rallies have involved day, or half-day trips to the Isle of Wight, Bucklers Hard (Beaulieu), Itchen River, Hamble River and Southampton Water/Docks. All will be weather / sea state dependent.
Event Classification
CHALLENGING – An event normally held at sea, where tides, strong tidal flow/currents and rough water may be experienced. In the event of an emergency/breakdown assistance WILL be required – either emergency services or CMBA colleagues, as severe damage/injury may occur. NOT SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS or inexperienced family members. RYA level 2 Powerboat certification strongly recommended. Confidence in your boat/engine(s) reliability is essential. Not suitable for untried boats/engines.
Other
For anyone here, who haven't attended before, it's a great venue and our hosts are very hospitable - as their guests, we undertake not to get in the way of a commercial operation, and or / their slipway. We typically self-launch, but they can help, if you have a bigger boat.
The suburb of Sarisbury Green nearby has a small convenience store and a good fish & chip shop. The Tesco superstore & fuel station in Burseldon is 5mins drive from the boatyard. At this stage I can't confirm if the river-based fuel barges still sell E5 monkey fuel for those that have older inboards and outboards.
Please book in with me early, rather than last moment, as it will give me the chance to work out mooring logistics for some of the places we may go to by water - my numbers and email are also listed in the CMBA magazine
