Plymouth CMBA Rally 17th - 20th September 2019

Welcome to the CMBA Plymouth Rally.

Plymouth Yacht Haven (PYH) have kindly invited CMBA members as their guests, for an extended midweek of boating. This superb venue is based on the Mount Batten Peninsula, adjoining Plymouth Sound which leads south to the English Channel, places of interest along the way include: Drakes Island, Plymouth Breakwater Fort, to the East; Bovisand Beach and to the West; Cawsand Beach. To the North of PYH, a short hop across the water, are the Hoe and Barbican, hosting various Pubs, Cafes, Restaurants (one with their own harbour & mooring), The Plymouth Gin Distillery (with guided tours), the Ferry Port, National Marine Aquarium, Force 4 chandlery and other places of interest.

Plymouth also hosts various water sports throughout the year including the; National Water SkiRacing championships (July) and Rolex Yacht Race (August). Plymouth Sound leads north to Calstock via the River Tamar, passing to port are the Lynher River and Torpoint, navigating under the Tamar Bridge, (bordering Devon and Cornwall), onto Saltash passing the River Tavy and Weir Quay to starboard. There are 3 knot speed limits marked with yellow buoys.

PYH offers: Allocated pontoon mooring, parking for cars, trailers, wash rooms, The Bridge Bar and Restaurant, (overlooking the marina), Mount Batten Boathouse Chandlery, workshop and fuel pontoon. Launching of boats; via the public slipway. Nearby are, Hooe, Plymstock and Turnchapel offering several supermarkets, takeaways, a chemist and fuel stations.

Tues: Entry to PYH from 09:00, after registration, park trailers & cars within the designated areas and prepare boats in readiness for launching. Catch up with CMBA members and prepare your boat.Once set up, liaise with others for launching, in the traditional CMBA way. Make way to your allocated pontoon mooring in PYH. Meet at the Bridge Bar for an informal safety briefing, before heading off west, for a 4 mile trip, to the River Tamar, stopping off at the Waterfront Restaurant for lunch with its own harbour mooring. From there, enjoy a leisurely cruise to the fork in the river, then back to a local hostelry on the Hoe, for an evening drink and meal, with a short run back to PYH, for a night cap if desired.

Wednesday: Start the day with a breakfast at the Bridge bar or Waterside Cafe, with an informal safety briefing, before heading off in a westerly direction as we’re invited to visit the neighbouring Plymouth Marina. Catch up over a drink and snack or lunch at the Gin Distillery, on the terrace or in the bar, visit the shops and cafes and then back to PYH.
Thursday: After a leisurely breakfast at the Bridge bar, enjoy a day’s boating to revisit your favourite haunts, with the opportunity for a final trip around the estuary before recovery of boats at around 15:00. Work with others to retrieve trailers, for recovery of boats and back to PYH at 19:00, seated for dinner at The Bridge Bar, continue the evening with many a 'boating' story, please book early as numbers are limited.

Friday: Breakfast at the Bridge Bar set off around 11.00 to attend: - The CMBA Falmouth Rally Weekend, a great opportunity to explore the Falmouth Estuary!
All members input and feedback is really valued and we welcome your viewpoints, to ensure we continue to enjoy our common interest in boating. If you haven't joined us before or not been for a while, why not give it a go this year, whether you are with or without a boat, you’re sure to have a good time!

Entry costs: £26.00 per day for car, trailer parking and pontoon mooring. All other on a pay as you go!
