4th Hamble Rally - 21st / 22nd / 23rd June 2019
Posted: Mon Apr 29, 2019 10:37 am
Following last years' successful gathering in June 2018 (6 boats, 10 people & a dog) we will be running the same format again this year. MDL Mercury has recently confirmed they can accommodate us.
Dates: 21st, 22nd & 23rd June, 2019
Where: Hamble-le-Rice, Hampshire
Tides (add 1 hour for BST) and local information: https://tides.willyweather.co.uk/se/ham ... ledon.html
Boating Waters: River Hamble, River Itchen, Beaulieu River / Bucklers Hard, Southampton Water, Solent and a trip to Cowes, IOW (all weather dependent)
Challenge: Although both rivers and Southampton Water can be calm, gIven the nature of the tides and sea (plus commercial traffic) around the Solent, this event will fall under the CMBA's 'Challenging' category (details in the club magazine).
Mooring facilities: Mercury Marina - finger pontoons or double rafting up a push - self launch, trailer storage and mooring cost around £50-55 for the weekend. Map of the venue is here:-

Accommodation in and around Hamble is always very busy, so I encourage early booking. The B&Bs and campsites below are within a few minutes drive of the slipway and Club, but Hotels are out of the way and they will charge typical coastal rates in the summer. I've stayed in Farthings - a 2min walk to the Hamble Village centre and pubs / restaurants. The campsite next to Mercury Marina (now owned by them) is about 15-20mins walk from the village centre, but proved a good choice for Vans, RVs and they can cope with tents too.
Accommodation - Royal Southern Yacht Club

The RSrnYC has excellent facilities, a very pleasant and large bar with terrace, plus great views over the river and moorings.

Airbnb - most will be within walking distance to the marina of 15-20minutes (avoid south of Hamble Lane up to Copse Lane - these suffer from all night industrial noise from Cooper Vision / GE / BP & late night HGV fuel tanker traffic and shipping bulk oil carrier discharging)
