After nine months of research we have identified the wooden speedboat/jet boat in the topics below this one.It was built by Bell woodworking Co LTD of Narborough road south, Leicester in the mid to late 1950s.They made mainly sailing craft (including the Mirror dinghy) mostly in kit form but built boats were available too.Help from the Fairey owners club suggested the name and i was lucky enough to find a copy of their brochure from the period. The hulls were built for outboards or inboards and it's described as a fast runabout designed with water ski-ing in mind. Our boat matches the dimensions exactly, the hull interior is the same and we even have the original screens like the boats in the brochure. We don't know when the jet unit was fitted but the hull and jet unit are the same age.Does anyone have any additional information on the Bell Sportsman boats or does anyone know of any others?
