Hello to all from Vienna!
I recently bought an AVENGER 21, built 1968, 5,7l Mercruiser, Edelbrock/Holley carburetor, Stern drive TRS 280.
The Avenger, called “Banane” due to its yellow submarine color, still runs crazy 60 miles/hour over Danube’s waves.
I really love this wonderful English boat, designed from Don Shead!
But the banana needs restoration and I want to restore it as close to its original condition as I can.
So I ask you for your help and advice.
I would be happy to get information, photos, folders or anything else about original colors, seats, equipment, fit out etc. or to find other Avenger owners to talk shop.
Thank you in advance & regards from Danube! peter/banane

Re: AVENGER 21 restoration support
Hi Peter/banane, and welcome to the forum!
I can't help you out specifically with the Avenger 21, but I own an Avenger 16 for the last few years since my grandfather left it to me 4 yrs ago. He had owned it since 1978.
Mine is in need of a full restore also (I spent a few years getting it usable after receiving it as a complete wreck in mid 2007).
Here's the story of it. Unfortunately I haven't updated the blog since early last year after having plenty of trouble with the MErc engine I bought then, and now I have relocated to New Jersey, USA, so I won't be doing anything with it for a few years unless I ship it out here.....
Scroll to the bottom, and you will see some links and images I found on the Avenger 16.

There's a few other Avenger owners on here who will hopefully be able to help you out also, but we're finding it hard to get material on them.
I'd love to see some photos or video of your 21 on the Danube......

Re: AVENGER 21 restoration support
will certainly try!...
removed part of the floor board today and found the fuel tank!
we also found the wood structure (unfortunately!)....
Going to be a long project! will post more pics this evening!
- cracked fibre glass tank (estimated capacity ~ 100 ltrs), was full of water, so its now an algae pot more than anything else!
- the 2 main members seam to be rotten right through! can only imagine that the transom and all the rest of the wood is shot as well.

Re: AVENGER 21 restoration support
OUT WITH THE OLD!!!
We've started to progress on removing all the old members and rotten bulk heads...
Have found a lot of core material mixed in with the fibre-glass!!
Anyone have an idea on what they may have been using back in the 70's???
Anyway, here are some pics of the progress so far
