Delta age

Post by gwa »

Hello
I am just finishing a lockdown project. The restoration of a grp Delta.
The boat number is 373214
It's fitted with a Ford 1600gt crossflow engine.
The block is a 711M which I understand was introduced in 1970
Can anyone help please?
Any history of these boats would be most helpful.
I did own an aluminium Delta in my youth circa 1986. It was a great boat for water skiing.
Regards

CMBA membership secretary knows how to decipher the Delta numbers, if you are a CMBA member I sure he will be glad to help.
Mercs are like women, no 2 are exactly alike. That's what testing is about. In general it is safer to test motors and props than women!

Good Luck with your restoration .I have owned a number of these the last one named " Shadow ".
It was used extensively in the sea at Poole and at a number of other CMBA events and when yours is at last on the water I am certain you will be very pleased with the boats performance and handling.
Your boat number you say is 373214 which translated means that it was made in March hence number 3 and in 73 the year and it was boat number
214 of the boats produced in Fibreglass. Hope this helps and if you require more info then please give me a call.
