Has anybody noticed a distinct slowing down on forum?
Has anybody else noticed a marked slowing down on this forum. Just getting in is slow, then page changes, uploading etc?

I thought it was my computer not allowing cookies or something.
It is taking an inordinate length of time to load pages, took almost a minute to load this reply page.

no matter how bad it is,it can always get worse,I'm an optimist

I have noticed this slowing down for a whole, which is why I posted. Definitely a significant snag somewhere. It's taken me 6 minutes to login in and post this.
And yes posts have slowed...it's verging on unusable in this state.
I'm using an IPAD, but same on PC when I checked.

Hi all,
Yes - there is an issue with the forum speed. The issue is with our hosting company and I have been trying to get it resolved for over two weeks now. We have encountered this in the past and they have usually resolved the matter within 24 hours - this time they obviously have bigger problems. I am not happy about this as it obviously discourages any new users and is a nuisance for existing members - to whom I apologise. I am going to copy this thread to our hosts (EasyCGI) as it will add weight to my argument that things are amiss.
Thanks for your patience, I'm trying to get this sorted as quickly as possible.

I'm ready to abandon ship - the speed of this site is very depressing. I'm sad enough to time how long it takes to load a page; 18 seconds on average. Been like that for months. My enthusiasm for the site is at an all time low. Time to shift loyalties me thinks.

I enjoy this forum and as a learner it gives me an opportunity to educate myself in matters 'Classic Motorboating'. I look nearly everyday, but feel as if I am now persevering, which I am not sure is how it should be. Perhaps that's why the number of posts seems to have dropped off in the last few months?

Seems to me Robin is doing all he can and is at the mercy of the provider. I for one am very grateful for all he does in running the site. If however you happen to be Bill Gates I imagine he would be very grateful of constructive assistance.BroomBroom wrote:Hi all,

Thanks floater...
I've pretty much given up with our hosts and I'm now looking to move to a new host. I'm trying to do this without losing anything on the way and I'm uncertain of some of the more technical aspects of moving the forum and its associated databases - any help gratefully received - if anybody can point me in the right direction of someone who could assist please let me know.

Re: Has anybody noticed a distinct slowing down on forum?
The site does seem slow, but then again our broadband here is so poor it is not noticably slower than anything else! More to the point, I would add that I echo the view that few use the site now. I used to use it a lot but gradually noticed fewer and fewer did until it seemed like a count on one hand of regulars, I therefore slipped into not bothering.
I concluded as with life generally there is a massive following for posting what "one" is eating out in a restaurant or where "one "is having fun on social media and that seems to be where the action is nowadays.
