Puzzler - Toby 13

Around 1964/5 my father raced speedboats in Ireland. He started off with a Toby 15 and then a Toby 13 Sportsman. His engine ended up being a tuned McCulloch of 75hp plus. The last boat I remember him racing was a Tremlett - of around 14ft. Anyhow I have now become the heir to the family photos, so I...

Pearly Misss

I have a Pearly Miss hull suitable for restoration. I bought it to do that but realistically I'm not going to get it done. So for the price of the petrol it is available to club members. I have a trailer - not very suitable with an engine, but it would 'cart it away'. If you have a restored Pearly M...

Re: Warrenjet Outboard

I'm afraid I probably cannothelp. However there is a chap with a website who specialises in Seabee outboards, I seem to remember he had or knew where to get many parts - Seabees or at least some of them used JLO engines! I too have a Warren Jet - in the list of projects to get too.... Best of luck. ...

Re: Question, kill switch - 40hp OMC

Maybe worth mentioning something I picked up recently regarding kill switches. Great idea if you go overboard. The only question is how would anyone remaining onboard (presuming someone was!), be able to manoeurve back to pick you up when you have the switch? Certainly worth thinking about if you ge...

Re: the famous albatrosses

There was certainly an earlier Britannia - a yacht which was scuttled after the death of George V. Whether it had a service crew I have no idea!

http://k1britannia.org/. This is the website of a replica - which itself has a chequered past.

Re: the famous albatrosses

The museum blurb basically reiterates all the claims that I have seen. Given the boats were very expensive some of it is likely to be true. But as posted earlier there is evidence that Brigette for instance had a Riva Junior. Onassis and Prince Phil look to definitely have one at least one each. See...

Re: the famous albatrosses

I must admit I've always wondered how much of this was true. I've read about the sale of the Albatross on Britannia - so probably proven (edit the first picture in catweazles post). The Shamworks site has a picture of what is probably an Albatross on Christina - so probably true (edit - the last pic...

Re: Mirror boat

Interesting little boat. I'm afraid I'm not much help - but I can say that it is neither a Mirror or a Cadet! Which does make it a bit of a puzzle. If you really want to find out I would suggest looking at the classic and vintage racing dinghy site - where a similar level of expertise in those types...
