1964 Evirude 40hp Big Twin

The albatross is nearly finished (just needs paint......), Many new parts in an entirely rebuilt 100E - not cheap, but at least all the part are available. The Pearly Miss I got from solitaire needs an engine and I got this one fairly locally. Apart from a butchered anti-cavitation plate it is in qu...

Re: Low Freeboard Fenders in UK.

I and my friend bought some similar ones 5 years or so ago, mine have a nice flat section where they go over the gunwale. They work really well. Came from Ireland courtesy of a posting by the chap with Tremlett over there. Something else to thank him for - RIP.

Re: Trailer axle

Using this site may save a trip to the weigh bridge. http://www.uktow.com/towing%20capacity.asp#123. Alternatively more modern vehicles have the max train weight on the VIN plate. I suspect that the capacity of many off these trailers is pretty 'flexible'. My Snipe rated for 400kg looks substantiall...

Re: Trailer axle

I've not added a braked axle but have carried out a number of 'changes'. Buying the parts from Ebay does make this sort of thing pretty straight forward. There are alternatives however, my car trailer has new flexible brake cables and brake shoes made up by my local motor factor as we could not iden...

Pearly Miss - free to club member

Pearly Miss hull. The foredeck has been removed so it is minus the foredeck and steering wheel, windscreen. The hull is in reasonable condition, some small filler patches which do not seem to be critical and a few leaking rivets in the after part of the bottom. The transom reinforcement would need t...

Re: Albatross 2 or 4 seater prices

Time of year, status of the seller, 'realism' all have a huge influence. Four years ago I paid £3000 for a very nice and largely original Mk3 with a 100E. There is a Coventry Climax one near here, been for sale for quite awhile at £6k plus, I believe. Recently advertised a £12k Corsair! The usual wi...

Covenry Climax

I have an Albatross Mk3 with a 100E fitted. The boat is largely original, which is nice. However..... I've been looking at the possibility of fitting a Coventry Climax, an ex-fire pump engine. From a variety of car sites it seems there are afair number of mods necessary to convert the engine. Howeve...

Help yourself. These are reduced quality to allow me to post on the board, the original scans are about 2Mb.

Part of my family legacy - speedboat racing on the Liffey. Boxing day 1963. My father in his first Toby, the 15 footer with we think a Scott 45hp - quite sensible compared with what he ended up with! Slides-002.jpg Slides-021.jpg Slides-038.jpg Strangely most of the photos of the race do not feature...

Re: Puzzler - Toby 13

The last year he raced would have been 64, possibly 65. Mostly with the Toby 13, I cannot remember a meeting with the Tremlett being raced, so possibly it was sold as he started the boatyard. I've some pictures of racing on the Liffey in I think 63, my father in the Toby 15 and a variety of mainly M...
