Re: Owens Brunswick 1959

Hi, this one is from 1966 on. Earlier late 1950s versions of the hull were called the Brisbane and had a near flat bottom hull, this one has a decent V profile so you have the best of the model. Later they became called Bry-Owen, and after that through the late 70s and very early 80s Sussex Ski Boat...

Re: Glastron Project

Time has flown by. The boat was basically finished by late June, with a few minor add-ons and had to wait a month or so, for the upholsterers to do the foam cap that sits on the splashwell edge. It's typically white on all the models (and gets grubby..), but they had a good match in black. She had h...

Re: CMBA at Eastlands Boatyard Hamble 2022 - 2 Events

The 2nd 2022 Hamble event at Eastlands Boatyard is to be held on the 23rd, 24th & 25th of September. This event will be the last CMBA saltwater gathering of the season, with the south coast weather (generally) still warm and sunny; we hope it'll be a pleasant weekend of boating in company. We have 6...

Boat cleaner

Got back from Hamble and struggled to remove the strange brown stains from Gogo's hull. Keith suggested I use tar remover, so tried that; vinegar, starbrite cleaner and alloy wheel cleaner. The latter worked, but has other chemicals in it apart from phosphoric acid.... Then picked up a post from the...

Re: Teleflex cable replacement

I wonder whether it split further down the cable due to the pressure within the cable, given the lack of clearance; then once the plastic had split, was only a matter of time before damp / water ingress. Had to use my engine hoist on the Glastron with it's offset jackplate (and did it twice, as was ...

Re: Glastron Project

After mounting the side panels, without issue, this week has been a rigging week. The anodised strip you see was originally bolted whith hidden square head set screws slid into a purpose made channel. The originals were brass and no longer obtainable and the Chinee versions in stainless just too lar...

Just a reminder to book your entry for this event, so that we can let our hosts know the numbers / allow them to plan moorings around what is always a busy period on the River Hamble.

Re: Glastron Project

The steering finally fitted today. Heavy duty helm, with heavy duty cable and modified Glastron Attwood steering wheel. These wheels are plastic coating a metal frame and the frame can rust and crack the plastic. My wheeze is to clean up the metal showing (from the manufacturing process) and then co...
