Re: Itchen and Scratchin Run - September 13th

Both the weather and tides look great for Sunday. No hyena blood or relatives to be sacrificed, yet. My mate will be with me, then at Hamble pontoon we'll pick up G and the little one. Mate and I met when we were 3/4 year old kids in Malawi, then drove boats in our mid teens called Fury and Impala (...

fine day..

for some boating. Southampton Water is smooth, little wind, sun is already hot and having seen Alacrity's link to footage of the 1950s class racing, am almost slobbering at the thought of a fast run in HumBug.

Thanks. I sold her at Beale Park show this year. Lovely boat; is ex Peter Allen and one of 3 we know of, but impractical for the sea and too small for the 3 of us.

Hi expilot, glad you found us. There is a Pearly Monarch in the club too..has a stock B18 and outdrive and is used on the Thames as far as I know. The club members also boast a couple of Pearly Miss Deluxes and the model with an ali deck rather than fibreglass.

a Gemini 12'6 named twitchy. Welcome Mr Kenny. The Gemini is the same size as a Broom Javelin and having seen one of those with a 'Boysen reeded' Merc 50 on the back, can understand why yours is called Twitchy....The driver of said Javelin overtook me at a hellovapace and proceeded down Southampton...

Re: Delta Nymph restoration

It was nice to see Francis O's again - he spent ages polishing it! Makes me glad I didn't go that far with the Pearly Miss. Does anyone know how many they made? I've only seen 3 in the flesh including Peter's.

Re: Wooden Hull Paints

Thanks for your advice - I will need a lesson on tipping off with sponge - can you explain that aspect a little more ? Not sure whether you got this..but tipping off involves laying the paint with a brush / roller, then following through with a foam 'brush' - will give a wonderful smooth finish wit...

Re: Moonfleet Aquila weight

Nice trailers; I also have a Snipe 750 and Admiral 750 too, both fit but you may want to go with a septic style one, like the one Se7en's Donoratico is on. Also, stick with bunks...and if you buy a local trailer see if it is compatible with Indespension hubs. They make swapping out bad bearings a do...
