What lurks beneath
Good video that shows what can lurk beneath a superficially solid grp transom. With my boat I used a diamond holesaw to cut a window in the inner laminate low down to assess the state of the plywood core. Based on that I decided to cut out the entire inner laminate and replace the plywood. Wish I'd ...

You may have already seen this but in case you've not, there's some interesting old motors here and may be worth making contact.

Re: Wanted 1960'S OUTBOARD
Oh I don't know IMG_0570.JPG That said, the boat I use on the river is four stroke powered  The downside is that it's single cylinder (5hp) which vibrates through the cable steering. The little 60s 5 1/2 Johnson 2 stroke twin I used to use was just as quiet and smoother although more thirsty. ...

CMBA autumn meeting at Ivy Lake Chichester cancelled
Regrettably it has been decided not to hold the autumn meeting at Chichester Waterski club's Ivy Lake on November 1st. The current restrictions on numbers, social distancing and a potential further tightening of the rules as the infection rate starts to rise again mean that we would not be able to h...

Re: Broom saturn restoration project
Useful guide for fibreglass boat repair here https://www.westsystem.com/wp-content/uploads/Fiberglass-Manual-2015.pdf It's written by West System so references their products but is equally applicable to any epoxy. Or a good old fashioned book https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fiberglass-Boat-Repair-Manual/d...

Here is a good starter: http://broomspeedboat.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2008-05-06T11:24:00%2B01:00&max-results=14 Personally I wouldn't separate the hull and deck unless you really hav...

Re: Engine cutting out - potential causes
That's irritating, putting it mildly. I would still be looking for electrical causes because you say it fires up again straight away, so fuel problems are less likely. How about:- Kill cord wiring and switch if fitted. Ignition switch, particularly if it's like the car type that switches the ignitio...
