Re: Top of the Thames trip

I'm glad the trip was well received, it has good potential I think. The landlord was very accommodating and only charged us for one slip for all three boats which was a bargain! There was also talk from the lock keeper that as a club we ought to be able to get a discount on our day licence for the T...

Re: Top of the Thames trip

Yes that's right, I was thinking we'd aim for the swan hotel pub which is just before the trout at tadpole (your right it is confusing) but if the weather is nice and time good there's no reason why we can't push on a bit to tadpole, the food is very nice there! No paperwork needed for the licence a...

Re: "Rocket" Hydroplane Build

Ok that would be great, maybe yours is smaller dia but coarser pitch :hmmm: From what Sean-nós says it sounds like the engine might be quite limiting on what angle I can get away with too so I'll try and get it rigged on a jig this week and see how the oil pan and gearbox fairs. I do have the advant...

Re: Top of the Thames trip

 yes you can pay for a license on the day at the lock. There is one right next to where we launch which takes card or cash payment, £11 for the day.

Re: "Rocket" Hydroplane Build

Yeah that should be somewhere close I think, I expect the boat will be heavier than a delta so perhaps I could dial down the pitch a bit? I don't suppose you know what size prop your running on there off hand do you?

Re: "Rocket" Hydroplane Build

 so if your prop is 13" diameter and you need to clear the hull by 2 inches would that make the drop at the back end of your strut about 8 1/2"? :hmmm: I'm thinking I might build it so I can fit up to a 12" diameter prop or maybe even smaller? So could I make the drop about 8" at the strut...

Re: Top of the Thames trip

Ok we'll go for the 29th... Rapier can definitely do that and hopefully Classic fever can still make it too?! I think if we aim to meet at the trout at about 10am (address/postcode is available at the link above) then we should make it to the swan for lunchtime or press on a bit further if we fancy....
