Re: 50hp Mercury - throttle setting

My concerns are coming from Mark who started it once with throttle issue. Maybe it comes from the remote. I greased the throttle cable and it now moves quite nicely by hand. However, I have noticed two things : -The remote throttle lever is hard to push forward once you start to move the throttle ca...

Re: 50hp Mercury - throttle setting

One more question (well 4 ...), How do you choke (engage/disengage the solenoïd)? Any tips to control that the choke is working fine before to start? What is your advise to start the engine (it hasn't started for a while, 1 year I think). And also, where is the lever to unlock the engine in order to...

Re: 50hp Mercury - throttle setting

indeed, it is really different. So if I understand correctly, once I pull the throttle control forward, that should move the cable immediately which in return is moving the top arm and the bottom (after 1/3 - 1/2 of the course?) I am not sure it happened. The gear cable moved immediately but the thr...

Re: 50hp Mercury - throttle setting

Thank you. Not crystal clear yet but starting to get better though it is more complex than my 125cc karting carb... Both arms are in place. So the bottom one is connected to the throttle flaps whereas the top one to the spark advance. Choke flaps are only connected to the solenoid. I have also spray...

50hp Mercury - throttle setting

Hello, I am the happy owner of Gina who is now home in France. There is a bit of work to do on the engine and I have never worked on a boat before. The throttle cable seems corroded and does not move. I will probably replace it. When I remove the engine lid, I could not really understand how it work...

Re: Newbie - enquiring about wooden vs fiberglass boats

Thanks for the advice. It seems indeed more reasonnable to go for a fiberglass hull.. The good thing is that the boat will remain protected from the rain under the shed (the garden is dug to let the river go in). It would be possible to make something to lift the boat when not in use. That would be ...

Newbie - enquiring about wooden vs fiberglass boats

Hi All, I've read your forum for a little while now and decide to join you. I'm french and looking for a nice little boat. Being a great fan of Riva, I'd like a wooden speed boat. She must be small as I don't have too much space. Boat will be in a river half of the year as I am currently buying a ho...
