Re: LPRC invitation to CMBA - spread the word.

It's a great little lake and a friendly club - but do watch the steep, right-angled slipway - it's the only place I've ever seen a recovered boat slide off its trailer and relaunch itself! Keep the bow line on the trailer!

Regular Meets? Only if you're on the South Coast and have a boat that can handle salt water, is my view! :)

Roll on November - then I can get a fix every day! But not, unfortunately, in my Albatross, which won't fit in my suitcase...

Re: Future Classics?

This really is a can of worms! I don't know enough about what's on the market today even to attempt to answer the question, but we did have a debate a few years back about what constitutes a classic. Nick seems to have summed it up pretty well with " It's a definable something - fins, unusual inboar...

Re: Albatross Super Sport MkIII Drive

Assuming it's a 100E/E93A engine, the coupling has two differential LH threads, so unscrewing the big brass nut pulls the tapered & threaded shaft out of the engine side. As it's brass, the threads can easily be damaged. The nut & shaft is probably stuck, so lots of patience and alternating heating ...

Austin: If you fancy a modern instrument rather than a period model, try https://beedspeed.com/index.php/cPath/83_176 I used their GPT Digital Tacho on my raceboat - brilliant. It had a peak rpm memory, programmable overspeed light, and an option to read temperature as well. You can set it to work o...

Re: Speedos

Neither the size of the pipe nor the size of the pitot orifice should make any difference - the gauge is reading nothing more than pressure. If the pipe is a bit soft, that might be expanding and lowering the pressure at the gauge; if it's very small there could be an airlock - but in theory the pre...

Re: Albatross Bow Pennants - artwork

Can anyone suggest the correct shade of dark blue for the fabric? I have a colour copy of an original in front of me, it's a dark navy blue flag bunting - not sure how I can describe the colour accurately! Also have a drawing of the original round-section pennant mast which plugs into the bow lamp;...
