Re: Is it a Classic? Marina 16
It certainly is a classic! The 16 GT was designed by Jeff Hemming and first built in 1962...58 years ago! I have one of the first off the production line and it's older than me. The 16 GT was actually used for group 4 offshore racing in the 1960's and this what is was originally designed for (Hence ...

Re: Excellent 'Launch Site'
The great thing about this site and book is that all info is available as an aps for Iphone. Its great to just ask for a launch ramp wherever you may be. All info is very accurate in our experience. We were 400 miles from home and it did us proud!!!! Better than asking a local!!!!!!! Is it av...

Re: Knots and how to tie them
I've got the app that they make on the iPad which is really good and easy to understand, I managed to splice everything from my mooring lines to the dog lead using it  IMO, they show far more knots than you will actually ever need in practice. Most knots like the clove hitch are quite fid...

Re: Names for your boats
Jeepster...Because its the name that was already painted down the sides of the boat when I bought it! :D I think its a reference to the 4x4 off road vehicle interest of a previous owner. :hmmm: One of my Nieces has suggested I change the name but I said its its bad luck to change the name of a boat.

Re: Trailing boats with heavy outboards
I use a thing called a Transom Saver from the USA, the extra tilt pin Se7ern uses is great except I've some slack in the ram pivots so the engine can still bounce about a bit. The transom saver is basically a prop that goes between the gearcase and the back roller on the trailer, then I use a small...

Re: How old is classic???
Same here as water-buoy new boat but 50's design with an old outboard and some of the wood came from a classic boat that got washed up on the beach :D Happy :drink: Day Great video...I had never really considered building a wooden boat myself as I know how easily they can rot if not looked after an...

Re: How old is classic???
I like to think of my boat as a "classic" although technically it was built in 2012 and so probably the newest boat in the CMBA! I always like to think of classics by the way they are styled but I'd say the 25 year bracket sounds about right  I liked your video links...Amazing how you can...

Re: How old is classic???
Thanks for the info...Hemming and Morris are actually still going today and are still in the same premises but they have long since stopped making boats...These days they specialise in supplying shop fittings/fitouts. I can fully understand you not knowing anything about the Arran 17 as I didn't kno...
