Re: Hello

Hi Clunk and welcome to a nearly dead forum! I have been a member for years and it’s done down in use over the years. I spent over 8 years restoring my boat and when finished I posted pictures here. I did the same on my car club site and got 40 messages in days. After months I didn’t have one single...

Re: Cavitation or something else?

Yes definitely short shaft. Should the anti-cavitation plate be angled so it follows on the same lateral line as the boat hull? Having now checked mine, it seems to be set slightly up at the front down at the rear, so it's not exavctly following the hull lateral line. I didn't do any adjustment (lac...

Re: Cavitation or something else?

Thanks for that advice. It’s odd, because it will pick up and go, I can get it going well (as much as I dare on a supposedly restricted Broad) and it does sit up and start to push on when the throttle is opened when in choppy water, but then we can hear the revs rise and the boat just doesn’t carry ...

Cavitation or something else?

I have my boat on this forum restoration under ‘Wooden boat rebuild’ I’ve had it out twice now here on the Norfolk Broads. First time it was flat calm, no wind no swell. Everything seemed good. The boat performing really well. Yesterday we took it out again and on calm water when we pushed the throt...

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout - now finished Jan 2021

I would have posted more shots, but it took me forever to fiddle those to get them to load! Those older engines do look great and if I could get a gud’n all up, running with known provenance and remotes it may be of interest. The main thrust has to be to get the boat on the water now one way or the ...

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout - now finished Jan 2021

Hi Nick, Thank you for your kind comments. I've been checking the site regularly and it only seems to be the hardened few who post now, inc your 'finds'. The little runabout is very pretty and well balanced design and I am really pleased with the final result. Since the photos we have named it and a...

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout - now finished Jan 2021

I posted a picture of my finished project on my car club website and got 40+ responses. Over 8 years work to finish this boat and 9 months after the of posting the final result - nothing here. Not very encouraging to join in, for somebody new to Classic boat resto’s. :grrr: I think this site seems t...

Re: 1975 20hp Mercury Blueband - correct plug type please - updated with serial number now

Thanks. So assuming then that the plugs I listed are the correct plugs, (as I now have equivalents) I have managed to find a supplier. They are now obsolete and mostly out of stock. Luckily I’ve found some, so now ordered. Not really hopeful that it will solve the problem, but I need to eliminate th...

At last I am back with my engine! So can post my serial number as requested for my Blueband 20hp it’s 9122768 Current plugs installed are BUHW-2 These are now obsolete. I have found some, but don’t want to order until I’m sure I’m buying the correct plug. Any suitable quality alternatives anybody ha...
