Re: Lyman Rebuild

An update: On the water for just under a year and had some great times on her this summer. A few teething problems, mainly with the engine cooling. After the engine was running too cold I removed the oil cooler and put in a thermostat and the engine ran quite hot, so I re-attached the oil cooler. Sh...

Re: Lady S Build Video

Beautiful work, wasted talent if you’re not a professional joiner.

How did you achieve the finish on the front deck, varnish x lots or is it some type of acrylic finish?

Re: Lyman On The Water

Gents, sorry for the tardy reply, work takes me over-seas for weeks at a time, often not able to access internet! The cooling system is via a water head exchanger that has cold water passing through the exhaust manifold which passs over a brass tube exchange unit. The engine cooling system is isolat...

Re: Lyman On The Water

rnb & Rapier, thank you for the reply and info. rnb, another question if you have the time. The engine has an oil cooler and exhaust heat exchanger, but seems to run very cool; after an hour running I can hold the block and rocker cover without burning my fingers! Is that normal for this engine fit?...

Lyman On The Water

Finally launched my rebuilt Lyman after 11 months rebuild. Just the cushions and canopy to go. She ran well, only issue is not sure if the alternator is charging the battery; because of the speed limit on the rivers I am turning only 1000RPM and I am not sure if this is enough for the alternator to ...

Lyman Rebuild

Hi, After posting some pictures of my engine (Ford 1600 GT) in answer to a question re cooling, I thought I would post some pictures of progress so far of the rebuild. The boat is a 20ft Lyman, which i bought in November last year, and which I am slowly renovating. Not trying to make it origional or...

Re: Ford 1600 crossflow cooling

Further to my last input, the 1600 GT engine has an oil/water heat exchanger on one side and a water/water/exhaust heat exchanger on the other. It is a Bowman marine engine conversion that maintains the engine cooling system as standard, water cooling provided by passing the engine water through a h...
