Happy New Year!

With 2008 firmly behind us, let's hope the climate is a little more conducive to boating activities during the forthcoming year.

Despite the dreadful weather (remember the snow in April), CMBA events were well attended and thanks are due to the organisers who made them so enjoyable!
The 2009 event schedule

is now available - but please check back regularly as new events are being added and dates confirmed this early in the season.

Finally, please don't forget to drop in for a chat at the forum - see the column on the right - more active contributors will make for an even more powerful resource at your fingertips.

Featured Boat
Broom Rapier -
'Miss Chris'

CMBA Member Nick Dunn acquired Miss Chris early in 2005. Built by Jack Broom boats on the Nofolk Broads,
these were made of mahogany on oak as a Class B runabout.
The flat bottom means they are more at home on calmer waters.

Nick's boat boasts a 1960's 18hp Johnson and is unusual in that it has the optional built in splashwell. Top speed is around 25mph.

Please check the Archive and Brochure sections in the History Gallery, where you can find period brochures and the original invoice for this very boat!

Motorboat Museum

Throughout the twentieth century, some of the world's fastest and most revolutionary motorboats were designed and built in Britain. The best of these extraordinary machines are preserved at the Museum.

You can trace the history of these fascinating craft from the early days of steam launches right up to the latest state of the art offshore powerboats.

Why not enjoy a visit to the Museum in the beautiful surroundings of Wat Tyler Country Park and make a real day of it!"
