thrust bearing.

Had the delta running at Pentney lakes last week. Went well to a certain extent. Breathing very heavily and over heated. Engine is now out for a re build. Do anyone know where i might get the bearing that is fitted into the 3/8" plate that goes across the bell housing to support the rear og the engine. The bearing also supprts the output shaft to the prop. The bearing also has a large circlip around it on the inside outer edge to stop it coming out of the plate towards the shaft coupling. It can not go forward as it is sandwiched between the plate and bell housing. I am going to try a local bearing supplier as well to see if they can match it, but if anyone has bought one of these recently i would apreciate any info .
Many thanks Stephen

I don't know what the bearing is but it will almost certainly be an of the shelf bearing - or was back in the day - so should be readily available from any decent bearing supplier. Bearings with a circlip groove around them are very common. It will have numbers on it unless it is corroded & thy cannot be read.

Escort mk1 gearbox input shaft main bearing, unless its been altered to later type9 which is larger.
As Alacrity says use Part no's or just mic it. Lots of Online bearing suppliers.
Circlip grooved bearings will be 3 or 4 times more expensive, std casing type can easily be machined in a lathe.

Hi I managed to get the bearing from "Simply Bearings" on line they are reasonably priced and offer a very prompt service. As with all bearings there are different qualities at various prices, I tend to go for some where in the middle. If the bearing is fully shrouded and you wish to continue using the grease point you will need to remove one shroud before fitting it.
Is your Delta a 1600 cross flow or pre crossflow ? do you have a modified sump? I would be very interested in any pictures if you have, as mine is running a standard front bowl sump with the engine mountings welded onto it. As the engine is running at 16 degrees it sometimes suffers from oil starvation when banking in a turn at speed.
