Elusive Ford engine parts required

Post by welshhealey »

I'm taking the bull by the horns and putting new crank bearings/shells in the Zodiac/Zephyr 6 engine .. Having difficulty in obtaining these bits , especially the sizes required eg. Mains 40 u/s Big ends 10 u/s ... Also I need an oil filter ( paper cartridge type) which I'm told are like hens teeth :(

I used XRN engineering for crack detecting and re grinding an Austin 7 crank. They specialise in parts for British classics and supply old school bearings so could well be able to help. The website states trade only but they did my work.

Ian, ebay 201149484795 gasketsforclassics for filter. Mains/big ends try "Goldendays" or " Thorntons" . Odd sets do come up on ebay now and then.

Cheers guys, got oil filter (2 actually due to rarity) and got sump gasket set ordered  really grateful for help. Next task is to ring the suggested contacts to get hold of shells/bearings :perfect:
Then, put it all back together and run it in this coming season :hilarious: ...or do I have to go steady with the aforementioned parts fitted ? :hmmm:

There's some part's on ebay now 221589528481. search zephyr/zodiac & consul 1703 (many parts same just less of them) . Also new ford parts centre has pistons etc but expensive.

Ian, When your next at the Yacht club would you see if anyone's handed in a red childs coat with Clayton written on the back, not seen it since we were there last.

Cheers
