Broom Project

Post by 32yellowking »

Just started sanding down my broom! I think I'll be sanding for a long time as the last paint job was obviously a bodge job. The paints gots loads of ripple in it!! Filled some holes and smoothed down, Loads to go though. Watch this space.........

How smooth does the surface need to be before I paint? Will the undercoat smooth out some of the ripples?

I would smooth out with 120-180 grit wet to get a good bond, every ripple will still show through so keep sanding till your fingers bleed. :D

" it will only come out as well as the preperation..!" if you have any ripples or marks left in the old paint, they will show through any fresh paint applied, rub them out before you paint, the better the prep, the better the finish, there are no short cuts.
