Storebro solo restoration

Post by Lumber »

Can anyone advise me what consistency and how many coats of linseed oil I need to apply to the hull before varnishing?

I have been told at least four and then your preferred colour shading as each coat deepens the colour.
no matter how bad it is,it can always get worse,I'm an optimist

I think you got 20 answers to this you would get 20 different opinions! I always add at least 2 coats of 50/50 turps & linseed oil to bare wood before I apply any varnish, & then the 1st 2/3 coats of varnish thinned down.
Mercs are like women, no 2 are exactly alike. That's what testing is about. In general it is safer to test motors and props than women!
