The magazine has ads for http://www.speedographrichfield.com who'll refurb period kit. There's a lot of used / NOS ones about on flea bay and the club so worthwhile posting what you want. Assume you have a british inboard if hunting for Smiths? If not and it's outboard then Airguide / Aqua Meter / Truspeed and others can be found 2nd hand and NOS is available on fleabay.

I have one of their chrome gauges in the Simmonds which has a fairly retro look.

Simmonds fitted from new with what, I believe, is the only running factory marinised Daimler 2.5 litre V8 (as fitted to the Daimler SP 250) in the UK. Please let me know if you find another! Believed to be Norman Buckley's race boat.

Forgive my lack of knowledge as to what was fitted to boats but, as far as classic cars are concerned, Smiths and Jaeger are the same company and the rev. counters (tachometers) went electronic in the early to mid '60s. Early models were +ve earth and they changed to -ve earth in the mid '60s.

I've spent many years working on the early electronic ones and know the correct solution to the standard problem where they read up to twice what they should do and also how to convert the early ones to -ve earth so, if any of that knowledge is useful, just ask.
