I am looking to replace the windscreen in my Avenger 16 - I do have the original which could be used as a template - can anyone point me in the right direction ?
Many Thanks

Try these people, someone (on here I think) said they were good. See Talking Plastics
Mercs are like women, no 2 are exactly alike. That's what testing is about. In general it is safer to test motors and props than women!

If you just want to buy perspex or polycarbonate sheet from which to make your own screen give Aquarius plastics a call

I found them very competitive.

Hi - Dakota
I am in the same position with my Avenger 16, - Infact I spent yesterday taking the chrome surround off - (I had to drill all of the screws out) We may be able to get a better price for 2 screens - I have been told Fibersport in Basildon may help and will give them a call - let me know how you get on, or give me a call 01865390729 - Andre

Andre,
That would be great - count me in.
Telephoned and sent a photograph to Total Plastics - I will chase tomorrow.
On a separate note - do you have or do you know of any marketing/sales brochures from when the boats were originally sold that detail the boat spec including the interior ?
I will give you a call when in Oxford next week - It would be good to see how you are progressing

re. Avenger 16
The data you have attatched is all I have ever seen !- there are quite a few pic's of Avengers 16,19,and 21s on the boatmad.com archives site
I got a note back from Aquarius Plastics - advising that they don't do this type of work. and am waiting for an answer from Fibersports
A company called Talking Plastics - seem to think they can make the screen (if it will fit in their oven) - I have just sent pictures of my screen and dimensions - they have 6mm in various tints - all on their web site -
Hope to see you next week, I will be glassing in new bearers and a new floor over the next couple of days!!!!!

Re: Windscreen - Avenger 16
Hi Dakota and Avenger 16 members! This may be a source of info, the chap with the sideboards in the avenger publicity pic is brian hendicott, then an offshore racer and now a boat designer. He was heavily involved with Pascoe Watson, owner of the Avenger Boat Co and Don Shead in the late 60's and early 70's. Recently he's designed the hulls for Patriot RIBS, so you may be able to contact him through them at www.patriotboats.co.uk. I remember seeing Brian a lot at Fairey's yard when I was a nipper, so he'll have lots to tell about the early days of Avenger.

Re: Windscreen - Avenger 16
Thanks for the details Chris. I've been trying to find as much as possible with little success in recent years - apart from the second set of images that T15 posted above.
Mind you, I did manage to get my Avenger photographed beside the Avenger Close road sign in Chandlers Ford on the way to Cardiff last August (from Ireland via France)!
That's a particularly sad photo I choose not to show to most folk.
I would wonder now if it's worth someone in the Club approaching Brian (rather than several of us seperately) to see if he would be interested in sharing some thoughts on his Avenger days or writing an article for us?
He might also have some paperwork/brochures lying around which I'm sure a few of us would love to see.
