Bilge pump ??

I have a Metor Mk 1, it has a manual brass bilge pump (which works well and is nice and shiny ) in the engine box with a small peice of 3/4 inch pipe going to an outlet on the port side,as my boat is undergoing a bit of re-finishing i have installed an electronic automatic pump, because if when i needed to use the manual pump i would have to pull off the top of the engine box to gain access to it.
What i want to do is have both plumped up and ready to work/use using the existing the existing outlet,is it a case of just inserting a T piece after the manual pump or is it best to by pass the original pump with the electronic pump and fresh pipework? TIA Mel.

You should always run bilge pumps with there own outlets, run them as two individual systems, you could get all sorts of problems if you try to amalgamate two pumps to one outlet, do it properly , bilge pumps are safety equipment.

Installed the electronic bilge pump yesterday with its own outlet on the same side as the manual one was going to route thru the transom but was advised against this due to not being able to fully see it functioning,All done now.
