Area 31 Racing Team - Classic Hydroplane Racing

Post by glenws »

Hi All

Really enjoyed looking through the forum and great to see updates about the Bluebird project.

We have recently launched are new team website http://www.area31racing.com which is about our team who have raced hydroplanes since the early 1970's with both Crescent, and Konig powered engines.

Influenced by the recent revival of classic hydroplane clubs on the continent the team have restored a 1964 500cc Crescent powered Schulze hull and also a 1973 500cc Konig Powered Cabover hydroplane. These two outfits have been relaunched and regularly raced at Oulton Broad.

The website shows a 35 year history of the team, information on the rebuild projects and also a multi media gallery that includes pictures from as far back as the 1950s to the present day photos and videos of the restoration project.

I hope you can spare a few moments to take a look and more importantly hope you really enjoy the site

Very nice site..and all the work to restore them... The boats scare the hell out of me though; guess it's something you get used to when you're young and fearless! ...doing those speeds with your mug a few inches above that hard water...

Need a picture of a Schultze for the club...got any available?
Fasten bra straps and remove dentures...
