One above looks like Ben Kingsley.. Perhaps it was a grain race ship? Looks cold though.

Wee bit before Ben Kingsleys' time I think. :) Pre WW1 South Atlantic. It's the yoke on the tripod I was wondering what's it 's purpose? Some kind of camera? Though I thought it was a bit early for that ?
I was also running the idea around in my head that it was on a whaler

Look like US Navy style pea coats and caps? The camera is similar to this WW1 version..

Re Bulawayo - my party trick involved a can of full strength Coke, after lunch, in the IBM office. Buu-lar-way-yo....had the whole office weeping with laughter (and got me into trouble..). My family from there, lovely city in it's day; if you look closely the road was designed so you could turn an ox wagon around. Best diagonal parking in the world too...The way to see Vic Falls is from the air though.

Recent claims that globular warming is to blame for lack of flow over the falls, but rumours are there are orientals diverting too much water, upstream.
