I originally raised the issue of our Forum speed and have read some of the comments thereafter. I am not sure this is entirely relevant to Forum speed, so have moved this comment and posted here in General......

Whilst I agree that social media is definitely the 'in' place to post online, I do not agree that social media is replacing the use of this Forum. This forum is for interchange of experience, common specialist interests, club activity, encouragement to achieve quality restorations and maintenance of Classic Motor boats, just enjoying being on the water in like minded company...social media in general serves a different purpose. Also I would like to know the demographics of this club and how this relates to use of social media. Most Club members do not use this forum. I would guess that some, maybe many are not even regular technology users, so they are probably not on Social Media by default.

I am sure like many other members, this is not the only club forum I use. Yet others are thriving, with basically the same aims and objectives as the ones I have tried to categorise and listed above. I think the seemingly low usage on this Forum is more fundamental. It's too simplistic to say everybody is now is on Facebook, Instagram, whatsap etc.....

This site deals with such a narrow interest group and not all viewing, or posting, are CMBA members, or want to be, and not all CMBA members are email/internet savvy, or choose to be. Facebook caters for a different audience and our site there promotes the CMBA in a different way - is easier to post to, pictures etc. It doesn't help that this site is being slow, as it frustrates those that want to post quickly. We've also asked all the questions and got answers here and elsewhere (fiberglassics / john's old mercs, aomci, etc, etc), which means there are fewer posts and a smaller core who post here.
