Thames traditional Boat Festival (TTBF) 2017

Post by Alacrity »

Another event shortly is the TTBF, Friday 14th to Sunday 16th July - Fawley Meadows, Henley on Thames - RG9 2HY. Starting at 12:00 Friday and finishing Sunday at 17:00.
As you know the CMBA are holding a dry rally at the TTBF at Henley again this year, you may remember it used to be called the ‘Thames Traditional Boat Rally (TTBR)’ with a certain criteria of boat.

Since the renaming, the organisers have opened up the categories, there are more varied types of boat entries & displays, making this festival bigger and better than ever, offering more attractions on the water, in the air and on the land to view, featuring one of the largest display of traditional boats in Europe, the fleet of Dunkirk "Little Ships", her Majesty's rowbarge "Gloriana", amphibious and military vehicles, and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, various stalls for boaty bits and refreshment’s.

The CMBA are asking members to bring a boat this year, or just attend the festival to support the TTBF & the CMBA stand. This has the benefit of attracting new members to join, but it is also a pleasant social event for the members who display boats and for the members who just visit the festival. For the members displaying boats, we now have the added benefit of a refreshment’s tea, coffee, water (may also include a glass of Pimms) and a few nibbles to enhance those long summer days by the Thames and there is usually an organised evening meal at Phyllis Court (limited numbers) on the Friday evening and meals out ad hock in Henley town on the Saturday evening.

If you are able to help out or attend the rally please can you let Andrew Flowers (his details in magazine) know the details of your boat,

Time is ticking on, so if it’s a bit late for this year, put it on your calendar for next year. :D

Hope to see you there the CMBA Events Team.
