Engine is certainly right for a mk1. Is it a wooden hull? All mk1 had a wood hull with a wood deck, the mk11 was a fibreglass hull with a wooden deck.

There are a few in the club but certainly not common. I know of a couple local to me in the midlands and I know of a couple of them in the Norfolk area. One was advertised recently on the Isle of Wight. I think there were around 100-150 bod them built but none have serial numbers so difficult to keep track!

If you give me a call I can give you all the information you need as I have converted quite a few of the older engines to Electronic Ignition.

Shouldn't have to. Just release the gland nut (probably has a locknut as well) lift it up the rudder shaft (if poss) along with the spacer the nut pushes on, hold it out of the way with a cable tie. Using a pick remove ALL the old packing then cut the new packing to length by wrapping it round the shaft & cutting it off, it will probably take three or four pieces. Grease them then arrange them so the ends are in different positions. A bit more grease then reassemble, don't over tighten it (especially on the prop shaft) although the rudder is less critical, and you are done. Check when in the water & adjust if needed. The prop shaft gland should drip occasionally.

Well been a few months since i posted and i have been very busy and ----dy cold!
i removed all internal fittings and floors...cleaned and re-painted...a lot of work...cleaned everything and inspected, all seems very sound..well push on a few months and "Misty" is looking great...then on to the wiring which has been completely re-wired and also looks a lot better..i even have a shcematic of it all...
I always had faith in the Engine however after renewing everything that is required to make her start it still would not catch and run...an inspection of the points and condenser thru up the problem points gap was good and they was clean, however the condenser was letting go and current was seaping a new one sourced and put in,a small amount of fuel was put down the carb and it nearly started,i was feeling excited to say the least,so i poured quite a lot of fuel down the carb ....and yup she started !!! put a gallon of fuel in the tank..charged the battery..and the ole girl roared into life !!!!!! after a minute i shut her off...as she wasnt getting water and i couldnt take the excitement.... so a few days later i rigged a hose up..and tried again...a lot of smoke a filthy exhaust and she warmed up and ticked over very nicely with clean water coming out..to say i am very pleased would be an understatement to say the least....i have run her up several times since and all is well,an adjustment to the gearshifting rod and new battery terminals should sort her out...i have been putting all her internal stuff back in..and am very pleased with my efforts...cant wait to get her on the water now..and have some fun..
I would like to thank the various people who have helped me both here on the forum and on the FB page.
Mel.
I would post up some video and pictures if someone could tell me how....
