For Sale - ChrisCraft Barracuda 1958 Speedboat

Post by Rapier »

This rare classic Chriscraft speedboat was imported to the UK in 1962 from Kentucky, by an american serviceman. The Barracuda model was only available in the USA as a outboard powered kit, built from plywood on solid frames. The build quality and fit out varies on these models, however this one is an excellent example and is extremely well finished, having been subject to an expensive restoration in 2013.

This example is powered by a low hour, freshwater 1971 Evinrude SkiTwin 40hp shortshaft. The motor is powerful and will push the boat to around 30mph. The motor was converted from manual to electric start and has recently been resprayed, with matching new decals. The engine is very reliable and had new coils, waterpump impeller and other service parts and has only about 5 running hours on this boat. Spares for the motor are readily available off-the-shelf in the UK and propellers easy to find.

The boat's trailer is near new, properly serviced and fully bunked (correct support for a wooden boat) with additional rubber keel rollers. The boat is easy to launch and recover single handedly. It can be towed by a small family saloon and as it needs proper dry storage, will fit in most UK garages.

This pretty and classic speedboat is a delight to own and run and represents a good investment given it's rarity. Please PM 'Scandal' for more details and a contact number.
