For sale: 1972 Invicta Jupiter 5.0 130 GT

Post by HughN »

This is a boat from the 1970s, fully restored to a high standard by the previous owner (from whom I purchased it last autumn). I have fiddled with the boat since then but despite living with half a mile of Littlehampton slipway haven't had a chance to use it; to be honest I need the space on the drive.

It is an Invicta Jupiter 5.0 130 GT that, as the name suggests, is 5 m in length.
  • Marinised 2.0 litre M10 BMW car engine putting out 120 hp (130 hp SAE)
  • BMW / ZF gearbox/leg
  • Hydraulic leg tilt (not power trim, hydraulic lift, gravity drop)
  • Fuel filter/water separator
  • 2 off 25 litre fuel tanks (both filled with fuel)
  • Manual bilge pump for engine bay
  • Electrical bilge pump under floor
  • Blower in engine bay
  • Speed indicator / depth indicator
  • Tachometer (needs setting up)
  • Coolant temperature gauge
  • Navigation lights
  • Morse controls for throttle / gear selection
  • Manual choke
  • Bruce anchor and rope (never been wet)
  • Handheld Cobra VHF radio (never been used but registered with Ofcom)
  • Garmin Echo 151 fishfinder (never been used)
  • 2 off manually-initiated gas-powered life jackets (might be worth having them serviced)
  • Garmin Streetpilot III with English Channel map data cartridge
  • Braked trailer with lighting board, heavy-duty ratchet straps & break-away cable
  • Two seats forward. Bench seat aft
  • New battery
  • Water intake fitting with hose connector (for running engine out of the water)
  • Hitch-lock (brand new)
  • Horn
  • Cover
  • Teleflex steering
  • Fire extinguisher (brand new)
  • A spare (partial) gearbox/leg
  • Anti-fouled
  • Kill-cord and lanyard
I have recently placed the (rather temperamental) original carb and its air filter with a Weber carb and Ram Air filter (and crankcase filter); a fuel filter / water separator has also been fitted to protect the carb. The engine runs well but the mixture might need tweaking when the exhaust is in the water.

The cable on the winch fitted to the trailer is a bit of a rusty bird's-nest and the wire-rope needs to be replaced; I have the wire-rope but the hook will need to be fitted and the other end fitted to the winch. The trailer is, I believe, contemporaneous with the boat and therefore prior to CE marks and data plates - I have no idea as to its weight.

Photographs, including those provided by the previous owner that detail the restoration can be found via here. And, yes, that is a carbon-fibre floor...

Grab yourself a bargain for the summer - £1,950.
