Re: Skewed keel fin
Looking at it again, the first inch next to the hull is actually straight. The kink then starts after that first inch so it looks like it's been done on purpose.

Can anyone explain why there is an original panel running forward from each side of that cut-out but no mirror image structure on the port side? Each of thos...

Re: Skewed keel fin
My thought is that the way it's skewed, it would tend to put torque on the keel clockwise and hence counteract the weight of a single occupant but the single occupant counteracts the torque of the engine anyway. Put two people in and that skew would just add to the reaction torque of the engine and ...

Re: Albatross Alpine number 2003 restoration
On a different note but, while 2003 is on her side, it looks like this is where the hull bottom has been lengthened from the standard Continental length:- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v247/Tatra_603T2/Albatross%20Alpine/photobucket-2506-1343154204151.jpg Inside, the front joint is covered by a ...

Re: Albatross Alpine number 2003 restoration
With the decent weather (which you can thank me for - I bought a 3m x 6m pop-up gazebo to keep the rain off and it's been nearly 30° ever since!! :heat: ) I've had the engine out of 2003 and got her on her side to get a better look at the P-bracket and rudder area as it had been glassed on the insid...

Skewed keel fin
So why is the keel fin on 2003 skewed when that on 2002 is straight? It's a hefty piece of steel and there's no damage to the hull or even the retaining screws and nuts. It's not like it's been dinged at one end either - it's bent to port at the front and starboard at the back! http://img.photobucke...

I even did a Completed Listings search and it didn't show up. Strange thing is, it does now!
Re: Batboat
Nearly all Albatrosses have the drive taken from the timing end of the engine so the prop rotates clockwise viewed from the back and the torque tends to rotate the hull anti-clockwise about its longitudinal axis. The helm is on the starboard side so the weight of a single occupant compensates. The e...

Milliput is another two-part epoxy available in loads of colours - I've used it for repairing She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed's ornamental terracotta plant pots!
I'd seal the heads with JB-Weld (but not JB-Quick, which tends to be a little porous).
