Re: Old race info wanted

The late Geoff Tobert took part in the Putney Calais races in Owens Kents, with the powerboat journalist Ray Bulmore as his navigator on at least one occasion. I don't know how you would get in touch with Ray, but he may have some information which could be helpful.

Instrument wiring

Hi All, I recently managed to get hold of some original 'Airguide' instruments for my 1960 Owens Kent , which nicely match the existing compass and speedo. They are: 1. A 'Seaspeed' tachometer 2. An ammeter 3. An engine hours meter. Items 2 &3 both have 2 wires coming out of the back (red and green,...

Thunderbirds are go!

I would argue that this can be regarded as a classic. After all, I remember the show the first time round!

Re: France

Sorry, I should have added that I already hold PB2 and the boat is on the SSR, so proof of ownership shouldn't be a problem.

France

We are planning a family holiday in France (Brittany) next year. If I was thinking of taking my boat, what do I need to know and what documentation would I need to take with me? Also, would I require an International Certificate of Competence? We would only be using the boat in coastal waters, not i...

Broom

Hi,

For anyone who knows about Brooms (afraid I don't). Could be a bargain.

Re: Securing my outboard.

Bag of nuts, anyone? I've just looked on the Screwfix site. I can get a pack of 10 x12mm stainless bolts (OK, so I'll have a few left over) for a little under £7.73. Equally, I can buy a pack of ten 12mm penny washers. £2.82. But then I have to buy the nuts. Nuts only come supplied in packs of ........

Re: Securing my outboard.

Thank you, both, for your answers; much appreciated. :D That's next Sunday sorted, then! Laying hold of 1/2" stainless bolts (or metric equivalent) will be tricky in the time I have but at least I now have a plan. There used to be an excellent engineers suppliers' in Chadwell Heath who would sell yo...

Securing my outboard.

Hi All, Right then, at last I have united my boat with it's engine. The two have never been formally introduced until now, having just been on nodding terms in my garage. However, yesterday afternoon I hung the engine, a 1962 Kiekhaefer Merc 500, on the transom and together they look handsome. (Move...

Re: Starter motor brushes

I had similar on my '60 Merc 400 on a re-conditioned starter and found it was the original loom and cobrahead - take the starter apart and have a look first. They're easy to find states-side. Good news. I found someone to overhaul the starter for me. There's a little place near here called the Yell...
