Re: Albatross nav lights.

I bought a bi-colour bow-mounted nav light for my Owens from an American seller on Ebay. The green aspect is certainly a lot bluer than I was expecting! Must be an American thing.

Re: Trailer axle

For what it's worth about 40 years ago I had a Snipe trailer with the said springs. The bearing was held on by a circlip. Driving down the A1 one day I saw a wheel coming past me. The wheel was mine, had hit something and bounced the circlip off leaving the bearing free to pop off at the next oppor...

Re: Trailer axle

I've been looking at the Trailer Tek site tonight and they do a suspension kit centred around a pair of Peak 750Kg units, including hubs that would take the existing wheels. They are un-braked, but I think I would still be within the law using my current vehicle (I need to find a weighbridge somewhe...

Trailer axle

I was just wondering if anyone has ever upgraded the axle and running gear on a trailer. I have a Snipe break-back trailer with un-braked stub axles on a single leaf spring. I don't feel entirely comfortable with this arrangement, so have been vaguely wondering if this could be changed for a couple ...

Pentney Lake

I've heard from Rod Champkin that the Pentney Lake event is going ahead on May 20th, but that there will be no hydros or raceboats. Rod will post more info on his return: as I write this, I think he is still enjoying Florida sunshine!

Re: Prop worries - another thought

Thank you, Rapier. Yes that's the boat. The info you provide is very helpful. I didn't have a rev counter at the time (it arrived whilst we were away in Norfolk grinding the prop into Blakeney's gravel). Now I have it - an original Airguide model - I just need to work out where to connect it into th...

Re: Prop worries - another thought

Not sure what motor you're running, is it on the Kent? If so I think 15 would be a bit steep for it and am not a fan of bronze props due to their weight. The 350 & 500 till 1969 were 11spline. 1970 and on motors were all 13 spline. Changing the hub won't change your speed / rpm though. Re-bushing i...

Prop worries - another thought

As a follow-up to my previous post, in the darkest recesses of my garage I have a bronze Mercury prop which is a 15" pitch but on 13 splines. Does anyone know if this can be re-bushed to take an 11-spline centre sleeve, thus enabling it to fit my engine? It would mean running the engine at slightly ...

Propeller worries

Hi, I originally posted this in the 'General' section, but I think here might be more appropriate. (Moderators, feel free to remove the original post). I'd welcome some thoughts and comments please. So here's the thing. I finally got my boat back into the water last month and it was a huge success, ...

Propeller worries

I'd welcome some thoughts and comments please. So here's the thing. I finally got my boat back into the water last month and it was a huge success, that is until, it turns out, I did irreparable damage to the prop on the shingle of Blakeny Point. I love Norfolk. I sent the prop off for repair to Ste...
